Meet Dr Shapiro
I grew up in New York City and came to the Bay area after graduating with a degree in Biochemistry from the State University of New York at Binghamton at an undisclosed time in the past. After working as lab tech, waiter, and a highly successful unpublished writer I began developing problems with my own back from the demands of waiting tables. I began seeing a chiropractor who took pity on the rootless nature of my existence and he coaxed me back to chiropractic school.
I graduated summa cum laude from Life Chiropractic College West in 1987. After working for my mentor for two years, I started practicing in Oakland in 1990 and I haven’t looked back.
After 22 years I still I love being a chiropractor–in fact I have even more affection for my profession with the benefits of experience. I can effectively treat many more conditions than I could when I first graduated, and have been able to integrate chiropractic with other aspects of physical medicine. Its very gratifying being in a profession where you can offer so much to patients in pain in distress and provide natural healing without the often troublesome side effects of drugs and surgery.
When I’m not working, I enjoy cycling, film, reading, cooking and dining out, and spending time with friends and family.
